Walden teaches how to life a Slow Life
I've been reading Walden by Henry David Thoreau and there are so many quotes on slowing down and appreciating nature, so I'm going to be posting more of his quotes and how it relates with living a slow life.
He's very critical on how and why people work and if we simplified our lives and didn't feel the need to buy so much, we wouldn't have to work so much.
Today, I feel that push with social media. Seeing all the things you need to buy, whether it's from the mentality of minimalism (which is 'get rid of everything you have and buy these select things') or capitalism (which is 'buy all these things to look put together to the other guy and make yourself feel better about yourself'), social media perpetuates the feeling of not being good enough, always striving for more, buying more, working harder, hustling…
What if we didn't buy into it?
We could choose to rest and slow down and look around and enjoy life.
I feel hypocritical to even have social media accounts. It's something I've been struggling with - I want to get my thoughts out to people, but I don't like playing the SM game. But here I am playing the game... here are my hashtags, COMMENT AND FOLLOW IF YOU AGREE! (jk don't do that unless you TRULY want to).
